Spiri was born in New Jersey, USA. He began learning piano,
figured bass and counterpoint at the age of six and performed
widely as pianist, organist and soprano soloist. He continued
his studies in Cleveland and Boston, thereafter receiving
an IBM grant to carry on further study in piano and historical
keyboard instruments in Europe.
made numerous CD's with repertoire from the Baroque up to
Reger, Gershwin and Milhaud and has recorded extensively for
Austrian, German and other radio networks. He taught several
semesters at the Musicological Institute of Salzburg University
and is presently professor for piano chamber music at the
Conservatory of Music in Cologne.
